Sealing Beauty
Techniseal sealant protectors offer several aesthetic options for paver protection, enhancement and a lasting custom finish.
Interlocking concrete pavers have long been an excellent choice for exterior paving. With an ever-increasing variety of colors, shapes, styles and textures, there is little doubt that aesthetic appeal is the number one item on a homeowner’s mind when selecting paving material. Once installed, however, pavers are subject to the stresses of use and weather. Consequently, the aesthetic value that was the very reason for choosing them diminishes with time. Fortunately, with the help of a quality sealant, their appearance can be preserved—and even enhanced.
Regular cleanings and applications of sealers are absolutely critical for a concrete paver to retain its aesthetic value. Various “half-sealed” displays that have been exposed to weather for several years bear this out—exposed aggregate and faded color is apparent on the unsealed side, while the properly maintained portions look as good as new.
(Pictured right) An application of a Techniseal protector was applied to the right side of the pavers, while the left side bears the longterm effects of acid rain. Although there are various performance characteristics that could impact the selection of one sealer versus another, sealers are primarily chosen for their aesthetic properties, of which there are four basic options:
- For a wet look with a satin finish, choose Techniseal WL4 Protector
- For a wet look with a matte finish, choose Techniseal WLP Protector
- For a natural look with a satin finish, choose Techniseal EV Protector
- For a natural look with a matte finish, choose Techniseal IN Protector
(Pictured right) Techniseal treatment for pavers and slabs is carried out in three easy steps: Removal of stains with a dirt and rust remover; preparation of the surface with an efflorescence cleaner; and application of the appropriate protector. These four options allow a homeowner to customize the finished look of their pavement while also protecting against the various stains that can quickly deteriorate the important aesthetic value of the pavers. As a result, more homeowners will remain happy with their decision to install pavers for their ageless beauty. Offering cleaning and sealing as a service is a great opportunity for additional revenue, and will in turn give you more maintenance business down the road.
