Heritage
Ewing is a privately-owned company operated by a third generation of family leadership.
- Founded in 1922 as Atlas Lawn Sprinkler (San Francisco, Calif.).
- Acquired by King W. Ewing in 1948 and established as Ewing Turf Products.
- Experienced a second generation of family leadership in 1963 under Sue and Ray York.
- Renamed Ewing Irrigation Products in 1967 to reflect its metamorphosis into a full-line irrigation supply distributor.
- A third generation of family legacy continued in 1978 when sons Doug and Richard joined Ewing.
- Ewing Headquarters relocates to Phoenix in 1994.
- In 2002, Douglas W. York and Richard A. York were appointed President and Executive Vice President.
- Ewing restructured its executive management team in 2009 and appointed a vice president of sustainability and conservation, further demonstrating the company’s commitment toward water efficiency and resource conservation. Doug York and Richard York were appointed Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer.
The family legacy includes a second generation of Irrigation Association (IA) leadership. Douglas W. York (President, 2007) was the first son to succeed his father, Ray York past president in 1986; and mother, Sue York, past president in 1998.
